RRC Rheology Research Center

Hosting The Society of Rheology in 1961


In 1961, the Rheology Research Center hosted The Society of Rheology for its 32nd Annual Meeting. Professor Ferry chaired the Local Arrangements Committee which also consisted of Professors Millard Johnson and Arthur Swanson. Dr. Ed Collins chaired the Technical Program Committee. This meeting was held October 31st to November 1st, 1961 at the Wisconsin Center (now the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon Street).

The meeting attracted 41 presentations, and the registrants lodged at the Hotel Loraine. Mr. William R. Willets of the Titanium Pigment Corporation (New York, NY) received the Bingham Medal. This was the first time the RRC hosted an annual meeting of The Society of Rheology.
