RRC Rheology Research Center

Certificate in Polymer Engineering and Science

The Rheology Research Center now offers the Certificate in Polymer Engineering and Science.

The degree is ideal for students who already have a graduate degree in a technical field, and who wish to qualify themselves for work in the polymer industry. The certificate is normally pursued through the outreach program, but it will also interest practicing engineers and scientists on a short sabbatical leave from their positions in industry. Students pursuing graduate studies outside the field of polymers, may also seek this certification in tandem with their other graduate studies. Foreign exchange students will also be interested in exploring this new opportunity.

Pursuing this certificate allows technical professionals to deepen their understanding and knowledge of polymer engineering. This is a less comprehensive alternative to our Master of Engineering (Polymer Engineering and Science). To earn the certificate, the student must complete fourteen (14) credits of polymer coursework. Of these fourteen credits, two (2) credits of the Rheology Seminar are required. The other four courses (12 credits) are chosen from the list of Approved Courses with the advice of a faculty member. However, no transfer credits are allowed.
